Flonida 5% Cream is used for abnormal growth of skin, Actinic keratosis, Basal cell carcinoma and other conditions. Flonida 5% Cream may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Flonida 5% Cream contains Fluorouracil Topical as an active ingredient.
Flonida 5% Cream is an anticancer medication. It works by interfering with the growth of genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This slows the growth of cancer cells and eventually kills them.
Flonida 5% Cream works by interfering with the growth of skin cells to kill abnormal skin cells but will not harm normal cells. The active ingredient fluorouracil is considered an antimetabolites type of medication that destroys cancer cells and cells which may become cancerous. The cream is used in the treatment of a form of skin cancer called superficial basal cell carcinoma. Some people may also use the medication to treat solar or actinic keratoses, a skin condition where years of exposure to sunlight can cause scaly or crusted skin areas.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
