Aceret 25mg Capsule is a retinoid related to vitamin A prescribed for adults with severe psoriasis which involves red, scaly or thickened skin with abnormal growth of skin cells.
Aceret 25mg belongs to a class of medications called retinoids, a form of Vitamin A. Acitretin works by inhibiting the excessive cell growth and keratinisation (process by which skin cells become thickened due to the deposition of a protein within them) seen in psoriasis. It therefore reduces the thickening of the skin, plaque formation and scaling.
Aceret 25mg Capsule is used in the treatment of severe psoriasis (autoimmune skin condition with patches of abnormal skin)
Aceret 25mg Capsule may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Aceret 25mg Capsule is to be taken with food
Acitretin Is In A Class Of Medications Called Retinoids. It Reduces Abnormal Growth Of Skin Cells That Causes Red, Thickened, Or Scaly Skin.
Aceret 25mg Capsule is used for the control, prevention and treatment of psoriasis, and other similar skin diseases. Aceret 25mg Capsule works by inducing keratinocyte differentiation, thus leading to the slowing of cell reproduction.
It may cause drowsiness or vision changes. Do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Acitretin is noted for the possibility of severe birth defects and should not be used by pregnant women or women planning to get pregnant within 3 years following the use of this medication.
Sexually active women of childbearing age who use Acitretin should also use at least 2 forms of birth control concurrently.
Avoid blood donation during therapy or at least 1-3 years after stopping therapy.
It may make your skin sensitive to light, so avoid sunlight.
Remove contact lenses while using this medication otherwise it will increase irritation.
Monitor liver function, plasma lipid and glucose levels (especially in diabetic patients) regularly.
Do Not Take The Drug If You Had An Allergic Reaction To The Medication In The Past. Stop Taking This Drug And Seek Emergency Medical Attention If You Experience An Allergic Reaction (Difficulty Breathing; Rash; Wheezing; Itching; Closing Of Your Throat; Swelling Of Your Lips, Tongue, Or Face; Or Hives).
