Tretiva 40mg Soft Gelatin Capsule works by slowing the production of certain natural substances that can cause acne.
Tretiva 40mg Capsule belongs to a category of chemical compounds called retinoid. This medication helps in the treatment of cystic acne or nodular acne that has previously not responded to any other kinds of treatment. It lowers the production of facial oil and prevents hardening of the skin. If acne is not properly treated it can cause permanent scarring.
On using Tretiva 40mg Capsule you may experience the following side effects: drying of skin around the lips and mouth, bleeding from the nose, stomach upset, hair loss. Should these reactions continue or worsen with time notify your health care provider right away. However, it is advised that before taking Tretiva 40mg Capsule you should take preventive measures.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tretiva 40mg Soft Gelatin Capsule is to be taken with food.
Take Tretiva 40mg Capsule as instructed by the doctor. Follow all the directions mentioned on the label. Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than prescribed. This medicine should be taken with food. The symptoms might get worse in the initial phase of treatment.

Pregnancy - Use of this medicine by women are pregnant or suspecting a pregnancy is not recommended. It is advised to take extra precautionary measures and avoid intended/unintended pregnancy while using this medicine.
Breast-feeding - Use of this medicine by women who are breastfeeding is not recommended. Your doctor may prescribe suitable alternatives after assessing your condition.
Exposure to sun - Use of this medicine can cause adverse reactions of the skin on sun exposure. You should either avoid stepping out at daytime or take appropriate precautionary measures.
Other skin creams - This medicine may interact with other skin care or medicinal products. Consult your doctor before starting the use of other products along with this medicine.
Contraception - Appropriate means of birth control should be adopted while using this medicine. It can cause oral/hormonal contraception failure and hence use of multiple contraception is advised. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect a pregnancy while using this medicine.
Donation of blood - It is advised to refrain from donating blood for 1 month after stopping the use of this medicine.
Depresseion - Use of this medicine has been known to cause varying levels of depression in different people. Report any current/past incidences of depression, agitation, anxiety, or other psychotic disorders to the doctor.
Hearing impairment - Use of this medicine has been associated with hearing impairment which may persist even after the use is discontinued.
Disturbance in vision - Use of this medicine may cause disturbances in vision. Report any incidence of disturbance in the vision to the doctor.
Hyperlipidemia - Use of this medicine has been associated with an increased level of lipids and triglycerides in the body and hence should be used with caution in patients suffering from hypercholesterolemia and other associated diseases.
Before using Tretiva 40mg Capsule, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. In case you miss a dose, use it as soon as you notice. If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your dosing schedule. Do not use extra dose to make up for a missed dose. If you are regularly missing doses, consider setting an alarm or asking a family member to remind you. Please consult your doctor to discuss changes in your dosing schedule or a new schedule to make up for missed doses, if you have missed too many doses recently.
Do not use more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Tretiva 40mg Capsule, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home. Bring a medicine box, container, or label with you to help doctors with necessary information.
Do not give your medicines to other people even if you know that they have the same condition or it seems that they may have similar conditions. This may lead to overdosage.
Tretiva 40mg Soft Gelatin Capsule is used in the treatment of acne.
Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
