Plavix 75mg Tablet is an anti-platelet drug which prevents the clotting of blood in the blood vessels. People with heart problems or a blood vessel disorder can reduce their chances of suffering from heart attack or stroke by taking this medicine everyday. Plavix 75mg Tablet reduces the stickiness of blood platelets which prevents the platelets from sticking to the inside walls of an artery and forming a thrombus. It can be used in combination with other anti-platelets for a better action. Close monitoring of platelets count is necessary during the treatment.
Plavix 75mg Tablet is an antiplatelet medication. It works by preventing platelets from sticking together which decreases the formation of harmful blood clots. This lowers the chance of heart attack or stroke.
Plavix 75mg Tablet is antiplatelet which is used to prevent clots in blood vessels. It can be taken in combination with other antiplatelets for a better action. It is not recommended in patients with bleeding disorders. Close monitoring of platelets count is necessary.

Along with its useful effects, Plavix 75mg Tablet can cause a few unwanted side-effects although not everyone experiences them. This may include easy bruising and bleeding, nosebleeds, abdominal pain, blood blisters, indigestion, diarrhoea. The unwanted effects often improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine, but speak with your doctor if any of these effects continue or become troublesome.
The usual dose prescribed is a tablet of 75mg Plavix 75mg Tablet to take every day. If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you remember. Skip the forgotten dose if you do not remember until more than 12 hours of the missed dose. Try to keep regular appointments with your doctor. This is so your doctor can keep a check on your progress.
Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start taking clopidogrel and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.
The dosage and length of treatment are based on your medical condition and response to treatment. If you are taking this medication to prevent clots after a stent implant or other procedure, take this medication with aspirin for many months to years after the procedure (depending on the procedure/type of stent) as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor for more details and about the risks of stopping early. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor.
Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
Get medical help right away if you have any signs that this medication is not working, such as symptoms of a new heart attack or stroke (such as chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, sudden vision changes, confusion).
Take Plavix 75mg Tablet as advised by your doctor. Do not take in larger amounts than advised. It is advised to take this medicine at the same time every day. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects like unusual bleeding. Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Plavix increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, or using sharp objects.
Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor.
If you are going to have a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Plavix temporarily.
Before taking clopidogrel, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to similar antiplatelet drugs (thienopyridines such as prasugrel); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: bleeding conditions (such as stomach ulcers, bleeding in the brain/eye), recent surgery, serious injury/trauma, liver disease, bleeding disease (such as hemophilia).
To lower the chance of getting cut, bruised, or injured, use caution with sharp objects like razors and nail cutters, and avoid activities such as contact sports.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). Your doctor may instruct you to stop clopidogrel for at least 5 days before surgery. Do not stop taking clopidogrel without talking with your heart doctor (cardiologist) first.
This medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol while using this medicine may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Limit alcoholic beverages. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about how much alcohol you may safely drink.
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
The missed dose should be taken as soon possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it's already time for your next scheduled dose.

It is also used with aspirin to treat new/worsening chest pain (new heart attack, unstable angina) and to keep blood vessels open and prevent blood clots after certain procedures (such as cardiac stent).

You should store your Plavix 75mg tablet in their blister packs below 30°C in a cool dry place.
