Veltam Plus

Veltam Plus Tablet is used for Urination in men with enlarged prostate, Acute urinary retention, Symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia in men, Enlarged prostate gland and other conditions. This Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Veltam Plus Tablet contains Dutasteride and Tamsulosin as active ingredients.

What is Veltam Plus Tablet?

Veltam Plus Tablet, is an alpha blocker that helps to relax the enlarged muscles of an affected prostrate and bladder. It helps to ease out the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which includes difficulty in urination, increased need to urinate at odd times, and a weak stream.

Being a medicine for men, These tablets is not for use for women and children. It is important that you brief the doctor about all other medication you’re currently on, as it may lead to adverse reactions with similar medicines such as prazosin, silodosin, etc. These Tablet is not to be taken if you are allergic to it. Let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney disease, if you suffer from low blood pressure or have a history of prostrate cancer.

This Tablet is taken orally, with the dosage depending on your medical condition and response to the treatment. It is important that you take the capsule at the same time every day, thirty minutes after your meal, daily. Taking it regularly would help to increase its effectiveness.

Side effects include a drop in blood pressure that may lead to dizziness or fainting.

How To Take Veltam Plus Tablet?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. These Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Mechanism Action Of Veltam Plus?

Veltam Plus Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Dutasteride which relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker. It works by relaxing muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor which helps in shrinking the prostate by decreasing the level of a hormone that causes the prostate to grow.

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of These Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Veltam Plus Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:

• Albuterol
• Alfuzosin
• Ascorbic acid
• Aspirin
• Atorvastatin
• Avanafil
• Boceprevir
• Cholecalciferol
• Cimetidine
• Clopidogrel

Side Effects of Veltam Plus

• Impotence,
• Decreased libido,
• Breast pain,
• Ejaculation disorder,
• Dizziness.

Warning of Veltam Plus tablet

Taking tamsulosin with alcohol may lower your blood pressure. This can cause dizziness or feeling like you might pass out, especially when getting up from a sitting or lying position.

Veltam Plus Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.

Precaution of Veltam Plus tablet

Before using These Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.

• Cautiously get up from a lying position
• Cautiously use in patients taking sulfa drugs

Storage of Veltam Plus

Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
