Rifagut Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by killing the ammonia-producing bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract which reduces recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy.

Rifagut Tablet is used for Bacterial infections of intestine, Liver failure, Bacterial infection of intestines, Liver damage, Liver dysfunction and other conditions. Rifagut Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Rifagut 400mg How To Take

Take Rifagut in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rifagut Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Mechanism Action Of Rifagut 400mg

Rifaximin acts by inhibiting RNA synthesis in susceptible bacteria by binding to the beta-subunit of bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-dependent ribonucleic acid (RNA) polymerase enzyme. This results in the blockage of the translocation step that normally follows the formation of the first phosphodiester bond, which occurs in the transcription process.

Rifagut 400mg Warning

Pregnancy – Use of this medicine during pregnancy is not recommended unless absolutely necessary and the benefits outweigh the risks involved. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea – The use of this medicine can cause clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea by killing the gut friendly microorganisms. This results in the production of toxins in the gut which may lead to further diarrhea or a severe colitis.

Avoid using the medicine if you are allergic to rifagut Tablet or similar drugs.
