This Tablet is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.

This Tablet is used for High blood pressure, Diabetes with kidney failure, Elevated blood pressure, Heart attack, Acute hypotension, Heart failure and other conditions. Olmesar 20mg Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Olmesar 20mg How To Take

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. This Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Mechanism Action Of Olmesar 20mg

Angiotensin II Is A Chemical That Causes Muscles Surrounding Blood Vessels To Contract, Thereby Narrowing Blood Vessels. Olmesartan, Blocks The Action Of Angiotensin II Resulting In Enlarged Blood Vessels, And Thus, Reduced Blood Pressure.

Interaction with Alcohol

Description – Use of This Tablet with alcohol will have an additive effect in lowering the blood pressure.

Instructions – Consumption of alcohol with this medicine will lower the blood pressure and can cause dizziness, headache and changes in heart rate. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you have these symptoms.

Olmesar 20mg Warning

Pregnancy – This is not recommended for pregnant women.

Breast-feeding – This is not recommended for breastfeeding women.

Hypotension – Symptomatic hypotension may occur patients suffering from volume depletion or those who treated with high dose diuretics. Correct the condition before starting this medicine or start the treatment at reduced doses.

Hyperkalemia – This Tablet may cause hyperkalemia, a condition with an increase in the potassium levels in the blood. Use with caution in patients with concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements and in patients with impaired kidney function.

Impaired liver function – Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver injury. An initial dose of 10 mg once daily is recommended and should not exceed 20 mg/day.

Pediatric population – The safety and efficacy of This Tablet has not been established in children age below 18 years.
