This Tablet is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessel so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.

Listril 5mg How To Take

The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take This Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet. This Tablet can be taken with or without food.

If you miss a dose of This Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Mechanism Action Of Listril 5mg

Lisinopril Competitively Inhibits ACE From Converting Angiotensin I To Angiotensin II (A Potent Vasoconstrictor) Resulting In Increased Plasma Renin Activity And Reduced Aldosterone (A Hormone That Causes Water And Na Retention) Secretion. This Promotes Vasodilation And BP Reduction. Onset: 1-2 Hr. Duration: 24 Hr. Absorption: Absorbed Slowly And Incompletely From The GI Tract. Absolute Bioavailability: Decreased By Approx 16% W/ Heart Failure. Time To Peak Plasma Concentration: Approx 7 Hr. Distribution: It Crosses The Placenta. Plasma Protein Binding: Not Significantly Bound (25%). Excretion: Via Urine (As Unchanged Drug).

Pregnancy – This is not recommended for pregnant women.

Hypotension – Symptomatic hypotension may occur in patients with volume depletion or who are treated with high-dose diuretics. Correct the condition before starting Listril 5mg Tablet or start the treatment at reduced doses.

Hyperkalemia – It may cause an increase in the potassium levels in the blood. Use with caution in patients with concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements and in patients with impaired kidney function.

Impaired liver function – It may rarely cause liver injuries like jaundice or hepatitis. Discontinue the medicine if any signs of liver injury like increased liver enzyme levels.
