Isotroin 5mg Capsule is a naturally occurring derivative of vitamin A and is used for the treatment of severe acne (nodular) non-responsive to other therapies.

How To Isotroin 5 Work?

Isotroin 5mg Capsule works by slowing the production of certain natural substances that can cause acne.

What is Isotroin 5 Capsule?

This Capsule belongs to a category of chemical compounds called retinoid. This medication helps in the treatment of cystic acne or nodular acne that has previously not responded to any other kinds of treatment. It lowers the production of facial oil and prevents hardening of the skin. If acne is not properly treated it can cause permanent scarring.

On using Isotroin 5mg Capsule you may experience the following side effects: drying of skin around the lips and mouth, bleeding from the nose, stomach upset, hair loss. Should these reactions continue or worsen with time notify your health care provider right away. However, it is advised that before taking capsule you should take preventive measures.

Some medications may interact with Capsule and have some adverse effects, in such cases care should be taken to have a discussion with your doctor. Take Capsule as prescribed. This comes in a capsule form and needs to be swallowed down with a glass of water.

You may have it with our without food. It needs to be taken twice daily for a minimum of four to five months. In case of a missed dose try to take it as soon as you recall it or skip it entirely. Do not by any means try to have a double dose. In case of drug overdose notify your doctor promptly. It may take a few weeks before results start to show.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Isotroin 5mg Capsule is to be taken with food.

Instruction

Take Isotroin 5mg Capsule as instructed by the doctor. Follow all the directions mentioned on the label. Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than prescribed. This medicine should be taken with food. The symptoms might get worse in the initial phase of treatment.

Warning

Isotroin 5mg Capsule is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.

Isotroin 5mg Capsule is unsafe to use during lactation. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby, or the mother is suffering from a condition in which breastfeeding is not advisable.

Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Your night vision may get worse during your treatment. This can happen suddenly. Drowsiness and dizziness have been reported very rarely. This may affect your driving ability.

Isotroin 5mg Capsule is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Isotroin 5mg Capsule may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

If you experience excessive tiredness, puffy eyes and difficulty in urination while taking this medicine, inform your doctor and stop the therapy.

Isotroin 5mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.

Taking isotretinoin with alcohol may have unpleasant side effects such as fast heartbeats, warmth or redness under your skin, tingly feeling, nausea, and vomiting.

Precaution

Do not take isotretinoin, if you are allergic to isotretinoin, vitamin A or any other ingredients of the capsule.

Follow adequate contraceptive measures while on treatment with oral or topical isotretinoin.

Do not use if you are planning to become pregnant, already pregnant or breast feeding.

Women must use at least two methods of contraception while using isotretinoin to avoid becoming pregnant. Even men receiving isotretinoin must use contraception.

Do not take vitamin A supplements with isotretinoin.

Use sunscreen to protect skin from sunlight and UV rays (like sunlamps or tanning beds) while on isotretinoin treatment.

Do not use waxing for hair removal or do any dermabrasion or lazer skin treatments while on therapy with isotretinoin.

Do get your blood lipid levels, liver function, blood cell count and pregnancy test done before starting isotretinoin.

Do not donate blood till 30 days have passed after last capsule is taken.

Dosage

Missed Dose – Skip the missed dose and continue with the regularly scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose – Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms of overdose may include a headache, dizziness, vomiting, stomach pain, tingling and stinging sensation of the skin etc.

Storage

Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
