Ciplox 500mg Tablet is an antibiotic that is a member of the quinolone family of medicines. It is effective in treating infections that are caused by bacteria. Ciplox 500mg Tablet is used to treat patients with bacterial infections such as pneumonia, anthrax, syphilis, gonorrhea, bronchitis, gastroenteritis and plague. This antibiotic is also used to fight against infections of the throat, skin, ears, nose, sinus, bones, respiratory system and urinary tract.
Ciplox 500mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria.

The dosage of Ciplox 500mg Tablet prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label. The following dosage information includes the common dose of CIPLOX 500mg Tablet. If your dose is different, do not follow the dosage described below unless your physician has approved.
The recommended oral dose of Ciplox 500mg Tablet is between 250 and 750 mg. Take this medication with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
If your physician has instructed or directed you to take Ciplox 500mg Tablet medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Tendinitis and tendon rupture - Use of this medicine will increase the risk of developing tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after the treatment. This may affect your shoulders, hands, ankles, or other parts of your body. You are at a higher risk if you are more than 60 years of age or if you have undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. You are also at a higher risk if you are on corticosteroids such as dexamethasone, methylprednisolone, or prednisone. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately.
Drug-resistance - Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing benefits and may even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.
Never take antibiotic medicines for a viral infection like a cold or the flu.
Always take the complete course of treatment, as advised by your physician even if you feel better.
