Lipvas 40mg Tablet is used to reduce the levels of bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Along with taking this medicine, a change in diet and regular exercise is recommended. The medicine helps in reducing the long-term cardiovascular risks such as stroke, heart attacks, chest pain etc.
Lipvas 40mg Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).
Lipvas 40mg Tablet is used for High cholesterol, Prevention of heart attack, cardiovascular disease, Dyslipidemia, Cholesterol, Prevention of atherosclerotic stroke and other conditions. Lipvas 40mg Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Lipvas 40mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Pregnancy - Lipvas 40mg is not recommended for use in women who are or may become pregnant.
Breast-feeding - Lipvas 40mg is not recommended for use in women who are breastfeeding due to a risk of severe adverse effect to the infant.
Cognitive impairment - Lipvas 40mg Tablet may cause forgetfulness, memory loss, and confusion in some patients. These symptoms usually disappear gradually once the use of the medicine is discontinued.
Increase in blood sugar levels - Lipvas 40mg Tablet may cause an increase in the blood glucose levels along with an increase in the Glycated Hemoglobin levels. It is recommended to closely monitor the blood glucose levels. Appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary based on the clinical condition.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of low blood pressure, serious infection, seizures, electrolyte problems, liver problems, alcohol abuse, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Avoid alcohol consumption.
Follow the diet and exercise program as directed by your physician.
Monitor blood cholesterol level and liver functions regularly while taking this medication.
