How To Uniwarfin 5mg Work?

Uniwarfin 5mg Tablet is an oral anticoagulant. It acts by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it inhibits them from growing larger and causing serious problems.

How To Take Uniwarfin 5mg Tablet?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Uniwarfin 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Avoid Uniwarfin 5mg Tablet with Vitamin K rich food such as spinach, collards, broccoli, spring onions, cucumber and dried basil.

Instruction

Take Uniwarfin 5mg Tablet as advised by the doctor. Do not consume larger quantities than prescribed. This medicine is not recommended in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, head injury, and low blood platelets level. Patients with liver injury/disease are advised to consult the doctor before taking this medicine.

Interaction with Alcohol

  • Description – Consumption of alcohol will increase the concentration of Uniwarfin 5mg Tablet by inhibiting its metabolism and decreasing synthesis of clotting factors.
  • Instructions – Alcohol consumption is not recommended in patients receiving Uniwarfin 5 mg Tablet due to an increase in the risk of bleeding. Close monitoring of prothrombin time and symptoms like excessive bleeding is necessary if alcohol is consumed with Uniwarfin 5 mg Tablet.

Warning

Bleeding – This Tablet is known to cause severe bleeding. It is not recommended in patients with conditions like gastrointestinal bleeding, head injury, and patients about to undergo a surgery. Close monitoring of prothrombin time is necessary while receiving this medicine.

Tissue Necrosis – This Tablet may cause tissue death within a few days of the treatment. Close monitoring of symptoms like pain and change in skin color is necessary while receiving this medicine. It is advised to stop the treatment if these symptoms appear. An alternate treatment option should be considered based on the clinical condition.

Calciphylaxis – This Tablet may cause a rare reaction called Calciphylaxis in which calcium is accumulated in small blood vessels of the fat and skin tissues. Close monitoring of symptoms like pain and change in skin color is necessary while receiving this medicine. It is advised to stop the treatment if these symptoms appear. An alternate treatment option should be considered based on the clinical condition.

Precaution

For best results, take Uniwarfin at the same time every day.

Requires regular blood test (PT-INR), to make sure Uniwarfin is working properly.

Uniwarfin increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects or engaging in contact sports (e.g. football, wrestling).

Notify your doctor if you see blood in your vomit, urine or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood).

Interacts with food or other medicines; hence require frequent dose changes.

If you are going to have a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Uniwarfin temporarily.

Uniwarfin should not be used in the pregnancy. You may breastfeed.
