Description

Terbinaforce 250 MG Tablet is an effective antifungal medication used to treat infections caused by fungi and certain yeasts. It is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and infections caused by ringworm.

Dosage

Missed Dose

Take/apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped.

Overdose

Contact a doctor if an overdose with terbinafine is suspected. Symptoms of an overdose may include nausea, vomiting, rash, headache etc.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use terbinafine if you are allergic to it, or if you have:

  • liver disease.

To make sure terbinafine is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had:

  • liver problems;
  • weak immune system (caused by disease or by using certain medicine); or
  • lupus.

It is not known whether terbinafine will harm an unborn baby. You should wait until after your pregnancy to start treating your nail or scalp infection with terbinafine. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.

Terbinafine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

General Instructions

Take Terbinaforce 250 MG Tablet as instructed by the doctor. Follow all the usage instructions mentioned on the label or the package insert. Ensure that the topical form is not orally consumed or applied in internal cavities. The oral form can be taken with or without food.

Warnings for special population

Pregnancy - This medicine should be used by pregnant women only when the benefits outweigh the risk. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Breast-feeding - This medicine should not be used by breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Care should be taken while using this medicine to ensure that ingestion and direct contact with the medicine by the infant are avoided.

Liver function - This medicine should not be used if the patient has a chronic or active disease of the liver. It is advised to monitor the liver function on a periodic basis while taking this medicine. Any sign or symptom indicative of a deteriorating liver function should be reported to the doctor on priority.

Allergic skin reaction - This medicine can cause severe allergic reactions of the skin and hence caution is advised while use. Any sign of an allergic skin reaction after taking this medicine should be reported to the doctor immediately.

How should I take terbinafine?

Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

You may take the terbinafine tablet with or without food.

Terbinafine granules should be sprinkled into a spoonful of pudding or mashed potatoes (do not mix with applesauce, fruit juice, or other fruit-based or acidic foods). Swallow this mixture right away without chewing. Do not save the mixture for later use.

Terbinafine is usually taken for 6 weeks to treat scalp or fingernail infections, and for 12 weeks to treat a toenail infection.

Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antifungal medicine. Terbinafine will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
