Ddavp is an ant diuretic hormone that is used for the treatment of nighttime bedwetting. Ddavp can also be used to treat momentarily increased urination and thirst caused by either an injury of head or some kind of surgery of the brain. It is also administered in certain types of diabetes. It helps by working on the kidneys to produce lesser urine. This medicine is excreted by the kidney in large amounts. The danger of toxic reactions to Ddavp is likely to be greater in people suffering from impaired renal function. Since elderly patients are more prone to decreased renal function, extra care needs to be taken in their dose selection. Ddavp is a prescription medicine

Before You Take DDAVP Tablets

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breast-feeding to be certain DDAVP will not harm your unborn or nursing baby. Discuss your medical history with your doctor to see if DDAVP Tablets will work safely for you. Provide a list of other Rx drugs and OTC meds you are taking, including dietary and vitamin supplements as there may be a negative reaction when taken with DDAVP Tablets or the efficacy may be affected.

Conditions Treated by DDAVP Tablets

DDAVP Tablets may also help children seven years of age and older with bed-wetting. Taken just before bedtime, DDAVP Tablets reduces the amount of urine your kidneys produce at night. Your bladder is less full so the night-time accidents are reduced. Some of the medical reasons for bed-wetting include: having a small bladder that is not able to hold the urine produced through the night; if your child is a deep-sleeper, then having a full bladder may not wake them up in time; a urinary tract infection can make it harder to control bladder function; or a possible indication that your child has diabetes.
