Neksium 40mg How To Work

This Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

What Is Neksium 40mg

This Tablet is used for Gastric ulcers, Gastroesophageal reflux disease, Acidity, Peptic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection and other conditions. This Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Neksium How To Take

You should take your Neksium with a glass of water at least one hour before a meal.  You should continue to take your Neksium for as long as recommended by your doctor, usually for a few weeks to 6 months, depending on the condition you are being treated for.

Mechanism Action Of Neksium 40mg

This Tablet improves the patient’s condition by performing the following functions:

• Decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Interaction with Alcohol

Neksium Warning

This Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

This Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

This Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Neksium 40mg Tablet is recommended.

However, inform your doctor if you have any kidney disease.

Neksium 40mg Precaution

Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.

• Consult a doctor if you have malignancy, hepatic impairment or community-acquired pneumonia.
• Drinking alcohol, smoking, taking steroids, seizure medications, as well as family history of osteoporosis increases risk of osteoporosis while taking this medication.
• Lactation.
• May increase risk of lupus.
• May increase risk of osteoporosis.
• Monitor for signs and symptoms of bleeding.
• Notify MD if planning on becoming or are pregnant.
• Notify MD if stools look black and tarry, throwing up blood, or throw up that looks like coffee grounds.
