Ismo 10mg How To Work

Ismo 10mg Tablet is a nitrate. It reduces the workload of the heart. As a result, the heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply.

What Is Ismo 10mg

This is used for Chest pain and other conditions. Ismo 10mg Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Ismo 10mg How To Take

The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take Ismo 10mgTablet as prescribed by your doctor.

Swallow the capsule/tablet whole. Do not crush or chew the capsule/tablet. Take the drug with or without food. Modified-release form of Ismo 10mgTablet should be taken once daily in the morning.

If you miss a dose of Ismo 10mgTablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Mechanism Action

Isosorbide Mononitrate Is Converted To Nitric Oxide (NO), An Active Intermediate Compound Which Activates The Enzyme Guanylate Cyclase (Atrial Natriuretic Peptide Receptor A). This Stimulates The Synthesis Of Cyclic Guanosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (cGMP) Which Then Activates A Series Of Protein Kinase-dependent Phosphorylation In The Smooth Muscle Cells, Eventually Resulting In The Dephosphorylation Of The Myosin Light Chain Of The Smooth Muscle Fiber. The Subsequent Release Of Calcium Ions Results In The Relaxation Of The Smooth Muscle Cells And Vasodilation.

Interaction with Alcohol

Description – Use of alcohol may increase the risk of adverse effects and cause excessive sedation and fall in blood pressure.

Instructions – Avoid or limit the uptake of alcohol while using this medicine. Contact your doctor if you experience excessive sweating, dizziness, confusion after taking this medicine.

Warning

Pregnancy – This not recommended for use by pregnant women unless absolutely necessary and the benefits outweigh the risks involved. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy in near future.

Breast-feeding – This is not recommended for use by women who are breastfeeding. Your doctor may prescribe an alternate medicine or ask you to stop breastfeeding if the medicine has to be used.

Other diseases – Report the incidence of all other diseases of the heart, lung, thyroid, kidney, liver etc to the doctor before receiving this medicine. All these conditions should be taken into consideration to ensure safe and effective use of this medicine.

Fall in blood pressure – Use of this medicine can cause a fall in blood pressure in general and may make you feel dizzy especially while getting up from lying or sitting position (Postural hypotension).

Precaution

Avoid using the medicine if you are allergic to Ismo 10mgTablet or similar drugs.

Do not drive or operate heavy machinery if Ismo 10mgTablet medication causes severe drowsiness or blurred vision.

Seek doctor’s advice before taking any other drug or herbal products while on ismo10mg Tablet.

Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may worsen the side effects of ismo10mg Tablet.

Do not stop using the medication abruptly unless instructed by the doctor. Discontinuing the medication suddenly may cause the illness to return.

Be cautious if you have a history of lung disease, hypothyroidism or liver disease.
