Generic Viagra Review

Instructions

Take Viagra by mouth with or without food. Viagra may not work as quickly if you take it with a high-fat meal.

Viagra is usually taken about 1 hour before sexual activity; however, it may be taken anywhere from 4 hours to a half hour before sexual activity. Talk with your doctor about the best way to take Viagra.

Viagra can help you have an erection when sexual stimulation occurs. An erection will not occur just by taking a pill.

Do not take more than the recommended dose or take it more often than once daily, or as directed by your doctor.

If you miss a dose of Viagra and you still intend to engage in sexual activity, take it as soon as you remember. Continue to take it as directed by your doctor.

Dosage

For most patients, the recommended dose is 50 mg taken, as needed, approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. However, Viagra may be taken anywhere from 4 hours to 0.5 hour before sexual activity. Based on effectiveness and toleration, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.

Blue or white pills?

Branded Viagra comes in small diamond-shaped blue pills –It has also patented this pill design and appearance. Sildenafil is sold as white or blue tablets, with different characteristics depending on the brand. Some have chalky finishes while others are smooth, and some are scored for easy division, while others are not. Both Viagra and the different brands of sildenafil can be purchased in 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg preparations, and there is no significant difference between them in terms of active ingredients.

How long does Viagra take to work?

The effects of Viagra will vary from person to person. As a general rule, Viagra is thought to start working in most people from around 30 minutes after taking the drug.

It is important to understand that taking Viagra tablets alone will not cause an erection. Viagra must be taken in combination with some form of sexual stimulation (visual, tactile or otherwise) in order for an erection to occur.

History of sildenafil as Viagra

Sildenafil citrate was created in 1989 by British scientists Albert Wood and Peter Dunn as a possible treatment for hypertension and angina; conditions associated with coronary heart disease. In 1991 Dr. Nicholas Terrett, now often referred to as the father of Viagra, was named in the British patent for the drug as a heart medication. And though It’s early trials of the drug in the 1990s did not prove its efficacy as a heart medication, patients who took part in the clinical trials reported increased erections after taking sildenafil. Separate studies provided more information on the biochemical process that causes erections, which helped scientists understand how sildenafil could enhance the effects of sexual stimulation and open up blood vessels in the penis. Sildenafil was then studied in men with erectile dysfunction, and in 1998 it was approved by the FDA specifically for treatment of ED.

Which factors will affect how long Viagra lasts for?

The effectivity of Viagra, or how long Viagra will last for, depends on a number of things. These can include:

Age. Men over 65 years of age will find that the tablet stays in their body for longer because the body’s metabolic  system tends to slow down with age. Essentially, this means that Viagra’s effects can last longer the older you are.

Diet. Having a large meal with a high fat content just before you take your Viagra pill can delay it from working as your body will be working hard to digesting the food. By taking it on an empty stomach, the effects will work more quickly.

Storage

Store Viagra at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Viagra out of the reach of children and away from pets
