3. What is Azee 1000mg Tablet?

Azee 1000 MG Tablet belongs to a group of Macrolide Antibiotics useful for treating numerous infections caused by bacteria like middle ear infections, traveler's diarrhea. Along with other medications, it is sometimes used for malaria. It is also used to treat a number of intestinal infections and sexually transmitted infections including gonorrhea and chlamydia. Administration of the medicine takes place either by mouth or intravenously with doses once per day.

You should not use Azee 1000 MG Tablet without consulting a doctor if you :

have suffered from allergy, jaundice or other liver problems caused by taking azithromycin or other similar drugs such as clarithromycin and erythromycin sometime in the past; or

have myasthenia gravis, a heart rhythm disorder or a history of long QT syndrome(Long QT syndrome refers to a heart rhythm disorder that can potentially cause rapid heartbeats, irregular heart rhythms and even dealth).

Few common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, stomach upset and diarrhoea. An allergic reaction can be caused by Clostridium difficile. 8. Warning of Azee 1000mg tablet

Do not take Azee if you are allergic to Azithromycin or to similar drugs such as erythromycin (E-Mycin® and Ery-Tab, E.E.S.®), clarithromycin (Biaxin®), telithromycin (Ketek®), or troleandomycin (Tao®). You should also not use this medicine if you have ever had jaundice or liver problems caused by taking azithromycin.

To make sure you can safely take this medicine tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:

  • liver disease
  • kidney disease
  • myasthenia gravis
  • a heart rhythm disorder
  • a history of Long QT syndrome

Do not take antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours before or after you take this medicine. Antacids include Antacid, Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta, Milk of Magnesia, Pepcid Complete, and others. These antacids can make it less effective when taken at the same time.

Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, stop taking this medicine and call your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. This medicine can make you sunburn more easily. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) when you are outdoors.

9. Precaution of Azee 1000mg tablet

Azee will cure your infection and improve symptoms.

It may cause an upset stomach. If this happens to you, take it with food.

Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete.

Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.

Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Azee.

10. Azee 1000mg Dosage

Azithromycin (Azee Tablets) may be taken with or without food. However, increased tolerability has been observed when tablets are taken along with food.The recommended adult dosage for the various indications is given below:

Community-aquired pneumonia (mild severity)/Pharyngitis/tonsillitis (second line therapy)/ Skin/skin structure (uncomplicated) - 500 mg as a single dose on Day 1, followed by 250 mg once daily on Days 2 through 5.

Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (mild to moderate) - 500 mg QD x 3 days OR 500 mg as a single dose on Day 1, followed by 250 mg once daily on Days 2 through 5.

Acute bacterial sinusitis - 500 mg QD x 3 days

Genital ulcer disease (chancroid) - One single 1 gram dose

Non-gonoccocal urethritis and cervicitis - One single 1 gram dose

Gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis - One single 2 gram dose
