Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Glimepiride and Metformin. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Hence this drug is used to enhance the positive effects of diet and exercise with respect to blood sugar. It is also used in combination with other anti-diabetic medicines. It is a type of sulfonylurea anti diabetic medicine, that helps the pancreas in releasing insulin thus helping reduce the blood sugar level. It belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfonylureas.

Glycomet-Gp 1 Tablet Sr makes the skin much more sensitive to the sun. Hence, if you are using this medication, use sunscreen to avoid skin problems. Limit the intake of alcohol during medication. Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Glycomet-GP 1 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Glimepiride+Metformin is a combination medicine to lower blood sugar.

 You should continue to exercise regularly and take a healthy diet.

 You may experience an upset stomach with nausea and diarrhoea in the first two weeks. Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.

Tell your doctor if you experience rapid breathing, ongoing nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain.

Limit alcohol consumption when taking Glimepiride+Metformin.
