Casodex (bicalutamide) is an anti (male hormone) used together with another hormone to treat. Casodex is available in form. Common side effects of Casodex include:

  • body aches and pains,
  • breast swelling/tenderness/pain,
  • headache,
  • dizziness,
  • drowsiness,
  • trouble sleeping,
  • increased nighttime urination,
  • hair loss,
  • weight changes,
  • constipation,
  • diarrhea,
  • stomach upset,
  • gas,
  • nausea,
  • loss of interest in sex,
  • trouble having an orgasm,
  • other cold symptoms.

Tell your doctor if you have serious side effects of Casodex including:

  • vision changes,
  • numbness or tingling of the hands or feet,
  • swelling of the arms or legs,
  • unusual or easy bleeding or bruising,
  • changes in the amount of urine,
  • signs of infection trouble breathing,
  • persistent cough, or
  • mental/mood changes (e.g., anxiety, depression).

The recommended dose for Casodex therapy in combination with an LHRH  is one 50 mg tablet once daily (morning or evening), with or without food. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are taking a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin).

 There may be other medicines that can interact with Casodex. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor. Casodex should not be used in women or children. It must not be used in a woman who may be pregnant or breastfeeding. This medication may cause harm to a fetus or breastfeeding baby.

  • Dizziness.

  • Abnormal enlargement of the breasts (gynaecomastia).
  • Breast tenderness.
  • Chest pain.
  • Weakness or loss of strength (asthenia).
  • Fluid retention (oedema).

Common

  • Sleepiness.
  • Decreased sex drive.
  • Impotence.
  • Depression.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Weight gain.
  • Anaemia.
  • Indigestion.
  • Wind (flatulence).
  • Hair loss (alopecia).
  • Excessive hair growth (hirsutism).
  • Dry skin.
  • Itching (pruritis).
  • Rash.
  • Liver problems

Uncommon

  • Decrease in the number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia).
  • Allergic reactions, including hives (urticaria) and swelling of the face, tongue and throat (angioedema). Stop taking this medicine and consult a doctor straight away if you experience these symptoms.
  • Interstitial lung disease.

Rare

  • Liver failure.
