Zimivir 500Mg Tablet falls under a category of drugs known as antiviral. This medication is used to treat infections such as genital herpes, cold sores in children at least 12 years of age and shingles in adults. It also treats chickenpox in children who are 2 years of age.
On using this medication you may experience side effects such as headache, stomach pain, dizziness, drowsiness, hallucinations, mental and mood disorders such as agitation, seizures, skin rash, difficulty with speech, kidney disorders and nausea. Seek medical help on experiencing any reaction. Discontinue usage if you have fever, weakness, skin paleness, bloody diarrhoea, swelling of body parts and abnormal bleeding.
Before using this medication tell your doctor if; you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Zimivir 500Mg Tablet, you are allergic to any food or medicine or substance, you are taking any medications, you have kidney disorders, you have HIV or weak immune system, you are pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The dosage is fixed by the doctor taking into consideration your previous medical records and the current condition. The usual dose in adults for treating herpes simplex labialis is 2 g orally every 12 hours in doses of 2.
Zimivir (valacyclovir) is an antiviral prescription medication which is used to treat patients who are suffering from outbreaks of the herpes simplex virus, cold sores and shingles. This drug has been clinically proven to reduce the duration and the severity of outbreaks as well as limiting the occurrence of future outbreaks.
Zimivir plays the role of an anti-viral drug which is known to slow the growth of herpes as it spreads and help improve your body’s fight against the infection. Whilst Zimivir is not meant to cure herpes, it will help reduce the symptoms of the infection.
Some of the medical conditions caused by herpes virus include cold sores, genital herpes, chickenpox and shingles. Zimivir is a medication that can be used to treat herpes for both adults and children. For children, Zimivir can be used to treat cold sores only if they are above the age of twelve. Meanwhile, for children with chickenpox Zimivir is recommended for those over the age of two years.
Only take this prescription drug exactly as directed to by a physician. Most often it will be prescribed to be taken 1-2 times per day with a full glass of water. If you miss a dose take it as soon as you can. This medication works best when taken on a full stomach. What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions: -acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) -any other condition that may weaken the immune system -bone marrow or kidney transplant -kidney disease -an unusual or allergic reaction to Zimivir (Valacyclovir), acyclovir, ganciclovir, valganciclovir, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives -pregnant or trying to get pregnant -breast-feeding.
Please ensure adequate intake of liquids to prevent dehydration while on treatment with Zimivir (Valacyclovir).
Please refrain from sexual intercourse if you are diagnosed with genital herpes infection and are receiving Zimivir (Valacyclovir) treatment to avoid risk of transmission.
Zimivir (Valacyclovir) can cause side effects (e.g. dizziness, drowsiness, and headache) that may affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Do not drive or operate machines till you feel better.
Take Zimivir (Valacyclovir) as directed by your doctor during pregnancy to prevent genital herpes blisters. The infection may be passed on to the baby during childbirth if you develop genital blisters.
Zimivir (Valacyclovir) tablets can be taken with or without food.
Do consult your doctor before taking Zimivir (Valacyclovir), if you have kidney or liver problems; human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection or any other condition that weakens your immune system and makes you prone to infections (immunocompromised); any neurological (mental) problems.
Do consult your doctor before taking Zimivir (Valacyclovir) if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
It is very important that you tell your doctor about ALL of the drugs that you are currently taking in order to avoid any interactions. Some people may not be able to take Valtrex including: people that are taking drugs containing Probenecid (Benemid) and cimetidine (Tagamet, Tagamet HB); women who are currently pregnant or nursing; and those who suffer from kidney disease or immune deficiencies. Only your doctor will be able to tell you if Valtrex is right for you.
Zimivir (Valacyclovir) is used for l treatment of viral infections of skin, mucus membrane, genitals and eyes caused by herpes virus including cold sores (blisters on and around your lips) and shingels (painful rashes usually in the form of a strip of blisters). It is also used for treatment of recurrent genital herpes infections, to treat chickenpox in children.
Keep out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature between 15 and 25 degrees C (59 and 77 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
