Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet is a combination of two antiviral medicines: Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. They work by lowering the amount of hepatitis C virus in the body and removing the virus from the blood over a period of time.
Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet is used in combination with other medications such as ribavirin, daclatasvir and peginterferon to treat chronic hepatitis C. It functions by reducing the hepatitis C virus in the body. This helps to keep liver disorders such as cirrhosis and liver cancer at bay.
On using this medication you may experience side effects such as diarrhoea, itchiness, headache, nausea, drowsiness, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat and skin paleness. If your reactions persist, seek the help of your health care provider right away.
Before using this medication you should tell your doctor if; you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet, you have any other allergies, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you have liver/kidney disorders, you are below 18 years of age, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The dosage should be prescribed by the doctor based on your age, overall medical history and current condition. The usual dose in adults for treating chronic hepatitis C is 400 mg to be taken orally once daily.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet, when taken together with other medicines for the treatment of hepatitis c infection, may produce dizziness, blurred vision and this may affect your ability to drive.
Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.
Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Velpanat 400mg/100mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any kidney disease as regular monitoring of liver function tests may be advised in some patients while taking this medicine.
Periodically consult your doctor, seek his/her advice and strictly follow the instructions/ directions given by your doctor while you are getting treated with Velpanat. It is recommended that you tell your consulting doctor/s about all your existing medical conditions/ medical history, allergies, and all medicines you use.
You may take Velpanat empty stomach or before/after having food.
Take the medicine at the same time each day.
Your consulting doctor may ask you to go for frequent/ periodic blood tests, while you are using Velpanat.
Store this medicine in the original container at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Few drugs may interact with Velpanat, therefore, always tell your doctor about all medicines you are using for treatment of other medical conditions.

Velpanat is available as tablets containing 400 mg of sofosbuvir and 100 mg of velpatasvir.
