Hepcinat 400 mg Tablet is an antiviral medicine used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection. It is also used in patients with liver cancer and hepatitis C infection who are planning to have a liver transplantation. This medicine minimizes the chance of recurrence of the infection after the transplantation. Hepcinat 400 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of hepatitis B infection.

On using this medication you may experience side effects such as diarrhoea, itchiness, headache, nausea, drowsiness, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat and skin paleness. If your reactions persist, seek the help of your health care provider right away.
Before using this medication you should tell your doctor if; you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Hepcinat 400Mg Tablet, you have any other allergies, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you have liver/kidney disorders, you are below 18 years of age, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The dosage should be prescribed by the doctor based on your age, overall medical history and current condition. The usual dose in adults for treating chronic hepatitis C is 400 mg to be taken orally once daily.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hepcinat 400mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Sofosbuvir is type of DAA called a nucleotide polymerase inhibitor. It works by inhibiting enzyme RNA polymerase - the cellular worker that performs the replication process. This drug stops the reproduction of the hepatitis C virus, which reduces the amount of hepatitis C virus in the liver. This also helps to reduce liver damage and improves liver function.

Limited information is available on use of Hepcinat 400mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.
This drug should be used only in combination with Ribavirin or with Pegylated interferon and Ribavirin.
Treatment with sofosbuvir is not recommended in patients with severe kidney or liver problems or depression.
Do consult your doctor if you are taking amiodarone (used for serious irregular heartbeats). The risk of slow heartbeat may be increased when taken along with Sofosbuvir.
Take extreme care to avoid pregnancy in female patients or female partners of male patients who are on treatment with sofosbuvir.
Take necessary precautions as sofosbuvir does not prevent the spread of infection to other people through sexual contact, sharing needles, or contact with blood.
