Betnovate 0.1% Cream is similar to the naturally occurring steroidal hormones (hydrocortisone/cortisone) produced by the adrenal glands. It is used to treat internal and external swelling associated with diseases like asthma, colitis, arthritis, severe skin allergies etc. It is also used for other conditions like adrenal hormonal insufficiency, certain types of anemia, cerebral edema etc.

Betnovate Cream is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.

3. What is Betnovate Cream?

Betnovate 0.1% Cream belonging to the glucocorticoid class of medication, acts as a steroid. It treats various rheumatic disorders such as systemic lupus erythematous and rheumatoid arthritis. Many skin diseases including psoriasis and dermatitis, allergic conditions such as angioedema and asthma, certain blood disorders, certain eye and skin conditions. Multiple sclerosis, crohn's disease and leukaemia can also be treated with Betnovate 0.1% Cream. It can be administered into the body orally, in the form of an injection or applied as a cream. Being a corticosteroid, it works by decreasing inflammation and modifying the body's immune response to various conditions.

8. Warning of Betnovate Cream

Betnovate Cream may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Betnovate Cream is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

10. Betnovate Cream Dosage

Missed Dose

Skip the missed dose and continue with the regularly scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.


Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms of overdose may include a headache, dizziness, vomiting, stomach pain, tingling and stinging sensation of the skin etc.
