Famcimac 500mg Tablet is an antiviral medicine used in the treatment of shingles, a herpes zoster infection which occurs in patients who have had chicken pox in the past. This infection causes pain, burning, and blisters. This medicine is also used to treat or prevent repeat outbreaks of fever, blisters, and cold sores in people with normal immunity and sores formed around genitals and rectum from time to time. It does not cure herpes infection and may not stop the spread of herpes infection to other people.
Famcimac 500mg Tablet is an antiviral medication. It prevents the multiplication of the virus in human cells. Thus stops the virus from producing new viruses.
Famcimac 500Mg Tablet falls under a category of drugs known as antiviral. It is used in the treatment of shingles and recurrent herpes skin infections in people with a history of HIV infection. It is also used to treat cold sores and genital herpes.
On using Famcimac 500Mg Tablet you may experience certain possible side effects such as vomiting, nausea, weakness, headache, diarrhoea and gas. Certain severe reactions may occur such as hives, trouble breathing and swallowing, chest pain, hallucinations, abnormal bleeding, swelling of body parts and disorientation. If you face any major allergic reaction seek medical help as soon as possible.
Avoid using this medication if you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Famcimac 500Mg Tablet. Before using Famcimac 500Mg Tablet notify your doctor if; you are allergic to any food or medicine or substance, you are taking any medications, you have liver/kidney/immune system disorders, you have hereditary conditions, you are pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The doctor takes into consideration your medical history, current condition and age before prescribing the dose. The usual adult dose for herpes simplex is 250 mg taken orally thrice daily for a period of 7-10 days.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Famcimac 500mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Probenecid may be noted that drugs other than those listed above may also interact with Famciclovir.

Impaired kidney function - Famcimac 500mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with a severe kidney injury. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.
Effect on nervous system - Patients who experience drowsiness, sleepiness, or confusion while on treatment with Famcimac 500mg Tablet are advised not to perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery.
Geriatric use - Famcimac 500mg Tablet should be used with caution in the elderly population with kidney injury or liver injury due to an increase in the risk of neurological problems. Dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.
Hydration - Famcimac 500mg Tablet may increase the risk of kidney injury when taken with other medicines that cause kidney damage. An adequate amount of water should be consumed to decrease this risk.
Always take the complete course of treatment, as advised by your doctor even if you feel better.
Drink plenty of water while on treatment with Famcimac. This helps to prevent kidney stone and kidney damage.
Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems. A dose of your medicine may need to be adjusted.
You should not have sex if you have genital sores or blisters. If you're taking Famcimac for herpes, you should use barrier methods (condoms) when you're having sex since you can still pass it on to other people, even if you're taking the medication.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
If a dose of Famcimac 500mg Tablet is missed, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost the time for the next dose, continue with the normal dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
Famcimac 500mg Tablet is used in the treatment of herpes labialis, genital herpes infection and herpes zoster.
